Episode 81: Author Michelle Huneven
I’m so happy to be back with a new classic format episode with one my favorite contemporary novelists, Michelle Huneven. The first book of hers I read, Blame, was a 2009 finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and also a finalist for the LA Times Book Award. I’ve since read all her books and love the compassion, humor, and reality in how she renders life and relationships.
She’s got a brand new book out, Search, which we talk about along with her other books, her background, and process—including the 20-year circuitous journey to the publication of her first novel, Round Rock. I hope you enjoy the episode and, if you’re not already a fan, go explore her catalog.

News from Past Guests & Out of the Vault
Lindsay Eagar (episode 72) has a new book out today, The Patron Thief of Bread, which Booklist calls an “engrossing story is imbued with real suspense and a gorgeous warmth.” I want to go to there.
Caprice by Coe Booth (episode 41, currently unlocked from the pre-2020 vault!) is also out today. “From the groundbreaking author of Tyrell, an astonishing middle-grade novel about a girl overcoming the secrets and abuse of her past.” I’m in!
E. Lockhart’s Family of Liars is also out—I loved our episode (36) in which she talked about ways to think about adapting your own work for the screen.
