I’ve been pretty quiet here lately for a few reasons, mostly having to do with what I wrote about in the last edition of the TCL newsletter. One thing I forgot to include in the writing life audit list was the importance of periodically turning off the noise, whatever that means to you. For me, it’s about retreating to a more private mental space where I can sort things out. As my fellow Very Onlines know, it’s easy to forget that there doesn’t always need to be an audience for our thoughts and process, and sometimes it’s time to close the curtains between acts!
But I did want to let you know about a little workshop I’m doing in a couple of weeks, especially those of you here in the West. Yes, very last minute, but it was only recently that there was more actual information to direct you to for this event.
This workshop used to happen every year, and then it was off for some years. I think what happened was the organization got some funding to restart it a bit later in the game than you’d typically want as far as lead time for a conference, but it’s happening and maybe it will work for you!
Here’s the information for the Entrada Institute’s Writing from the Land workshop/conference, in Torrey, UT May 18-21.
It promises to be a great combination of generative workshops, readings, and free time to explore the incredible beauty of Southern Utah. I’d love to see you there!
Torrey is right outside Capitol Reef National Park, which is just…well, look for yourself.
🎙️ I’m working on one more episode in the podcast series, so don’t give up on your feed!
🌟 A Song Called Home is on the best of the year lists for Bank Street Books and the Cooperative Children’s Book Center, two honors I’m especially pleased with.
🔥 I have now seen the cover art for my next book and I love it so much and can’t wait to share the cover, the title, and what’s inside!
